The
first half of the year; struggling with adulthood and working world (yes, I’ve started
working; I was still a student when I last updated my blog) adjusting life here
and there. Well nobody has ever received a proper lesson on adulthood, like things adult should know how to do and have to do. Please mind my imperfections. (Let me know if you are able to find How-to-be-an-Adult for Dummies because I need one for myself too). pffftt...i think adulthood is just not for me. *go back watching Totally Spies.
2016 also marked the beginning of my hiking life. So
it began with ‘Jom naik Irau’ in a 'I-am-just-kidding' tone, and suddenly we were up
there. No words to describe this amount of satisfaction and enjoyment when you have
at last made it to the top, the feeling of being on the peak, the people you
met through the trips, countless friendships that you have made during the
journey and yes the regrets, the non-stop ranting on why did I sign up for
this, why did I sacrifice my holy bed for being sweaty and wet all day long,
the pain and soreness that I knew I’ve to deal with afterwards but then it was
replaced with...‘Oohh I would give up my bed every weekends for this amazing
view!’...‘There is no place better than this'... except that Tesco couldn’t be built
up here, so I still have to go down (Im a big fan of Tesco). But sometimes it
is not about the destination, it’s about the journey to get there, what you see
along the way, the experiences that cannot be bought and the people that have
taught you to make it happen. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful life and family,
their endless support on my hobbies and interest-which some of it gets on my
parents’ nerves; sooorrry, couldn’t help it, amazing friends that are always up
to something good, that could keep up with me during my ups and downs, I thank
Allah for sending me these people in my life, couldn’t ask for more.
So without further ado, let see the
highlights of my 2016.
Mount Irau, Cameron
Highland
My first mountain trip
and my first time organising a trip (with the help from others of course). It
was almost Ramadhan and we wanted to go before the fasting month started, but
then we decided to celebrate our Raya by climbing, falling and cursing chilling
in the cold-wet-muddy forest. (That’s me before I was all covered up with mud-
*I heard mud is good for the skin, I was doing my own spa up there)
Line up: 15 pax
Cost: Permit/RM 5
Kepulauan Mersing
(Islands of Mersing)
From top of the mountain,
down into the ocean. Another short gateway, another new joiners. A daytrip
package from this one brother we found on Facebook (Cheap? Okay let’s call him)
managed to get discount (I am that discount lady, you no discount I’ll find
another one) overall was okay, 8 on the scale of 10; lunch included in the
package was a bit of a disappointment, but since everybody was freaking hungry
(gila tak lapar kau, experiencing one day life as as unofficial Baywatch) we ate all the nasi bungkus tho the sambal was almost basi haha never mind, you’re dealing with
a group of tough human beings, we can eat anything.
Line up: 11 pax
Cost: RM 200 (Snorkeling,
Room, Dinner & Carpool included)
Gunung Arong, Mersing
Im back in Mersing for a
pre-merdeka celebration! This time was for Gunung Arong. Started hiking at 5 am
in the morning, reached the top at 6 am. Too bad the haze tak boleh dibawak berbincang on that day, did not complete our mission to watch the sunrise but
replaced by eating maggi and ketupat palas with serunding early in the morning.
Line up: 7 pax + 3 pax
(new friends met during the trip)
Cost: RM 70 (Transport
& Meals included-bought Durians too!)
Sg Batu 16, Gombak
How we celebrated our
merdeka, by having a picnic here. We were lost finding the way to this place
(went off from home at 7 am, reached the place at 10 am- yes it is located in
Gombak *facepalm). Required a little bit of trekking before you arrived at the
waterfall, a very nice and secluded place I must say. (Showed the video to my
mom, now she’s questioning my sanity-make it higher than that next time-okay
mom, will do)
Line up: 10 pax
Cost: -
Bukit Tabur, Gombak
The initial plan was to
avoid the place from being too packed and crowded, so we decided to climb up
the hill a bit late than everyone else. What time? I’ll give you a hint; we
reached the peak at 12 o’clock in the noon, yeah you do the math. But it was
nice, the trick of climbing up in a scorching hot day, less people up there,
more selfie time (so much avoiding the crowd, mehhh nobody wants to get burn
like a roasted chicken like you did).
Line up: 5 pax

Bukit Berekeh, Sungai
Siput, Ipoh & Bukit Kledang, Ipoh
Bukit Berekeh
2 in 1 trips. Went up for
Bukit Berekeh in the morning. The trail was meh meh meh, putus nafas sekejap,
naik tak berhenti. The view, overall 9 over 10. Minus 1 as we didn’t get the
chance to experience the awan karpet, which they said can only be seen if it
rained the night before. Nvm, with or without awan karpet, I still like it. In
the evening, we went for Bukit Kledang. Didn’t know there’s such place like
that before. Since it was already late in the evening, we were not able to
reach the top (2 km to go, thanks but no thanks, can barely feel my legs)
definitely will come again to finish what we’ve started.
FRIM Canopy Walk, Kepong
Monthly meet up with the girls. So we decided to go out exploring the
wild instead of lazing around the house like always (our definition of
hanging out; mattress on the floor, youtube-ing/movie-ing all day long,
go out only when you feel
hungry- the effect of adulthood is real guys). The highlight of the
day, ticket-less tour to the Canopy Walk. The initial plan was to look
around, do a lil bit of trekking but then we bumped into one of the rangers on
duty. ‘Nak naik Canopy Walk?’…’Tapi kitorang takda
tiket’…’Jom ikut’ God bless you Sir! Thank you for the trip.
Mount Nuang, Hulu
Selangor
My first randomly-joined
trip with strangers. (Found out about the trip on Twitter, and me was being me
‘Hi I’m a desperate lonely girl looking for a hiking group, please let me join
your trip’ and guess what, they did let me in-haven’t told them I was a
criminal yet, luckily they didn’t do background check pheww) The most
interesting part was, I only knew that Nuang was a real deal (plus minus 6
hours up and 6 hours down = 12 hours total- averagely) the night before the
hiking day. Ketuk diri sendiri sebab signed up trip without doing my research
first. Almost bail out, but then naaaah I can do this- I have to do this
(I’ve already paid the fee, so you better go girl). Alhamdulillah, managed to
get through it like a boss (please don’t do this too often, sayangi lututs dan
ankles anda) Thank you SR Team for organising the trip and Team Turbo
(self-proclaimed- but one of us was one hell of a guy-berdesup laju naik turun
Nuang, hats off to you).
Line up: 17 pax
Cost: RM 35 (Permit &
Meals included)
Will try to write on each trip separately, as for now that's it.
